Conventional Devices

Kingfisher offers a series of conventional devices for your fire alarm systems. All of the fire alert and alarm products you need are listed below.

Beam1224 Series Single-ended Reflected Type Beam Smoke Detector

Kingfisher Model KFBEAM1224 is a four-wire conventional projected beam smoke detector. It is uniquely suited for protecting open areas with high ceilings where other methods of smoke detection are difficult to install and maintain. It is to be used with KCi compatible control panels only. Installation of the single-ended reflective design is much easier than dual ended projected beam detectors. Alignment is quickly accomplished via an optical sight and a 2-digit signal strength meter incorporated into the product. Listed for operation from –22°F to 131°F, KFBEAM1224 can be used in open area applications to provide early warning in environments where temperature extremes exceed the capability of other types of smoke detection.

KFBEAM1224S is equipped with an integral sensitivity test feature that consists of a test filter attached to a servo motor inside the detector optics. Using the remote test station KFRTS451, the motor is activated and moves the filter in the pathway of the light beam, thereby testing detector sensitivity. This integral sensitivity test feature allows the user to quickly and easily meet the annual maintenance and test requirements of NFPA 72.

BG-50W NEMA 4X Weatherproof Manual Pull Station

The BG-50W series Manual Pull Station supplied by Kingfisher Company, inc., is enclosed in an attractive cast aluminum housing. The bright red finish with raised white letters assures fast recognition when seconds count.

System testing may be accomplished by opening the front or pull cover of the station with the key. The key is also used for resetting after normal operation. This method makes it impossible to reset by accident or by an unauthorized individual.

The BG-50W is a surface mounted, weatherproof (NEMA 4X) model with a gasketed back box, supplied as a complete unit.

Type 4X enclosures are intended for indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection against falling rain, splashing water and hose directed water, are undamaged by the formation of ice on the enclosure and resist corrosion.

KF5600 Series Mechanical Heat Detectors

The KF5600 series offers a full-line of configurations to accommodate a broad range of applications. Both single and dual-circuit models are available for low and high temperature ratings with either fixed temperature or combination fixed temperature/rate-of-rise (ROR) activation. The ROR element of the fixed/ROR models is restorable to accommodate field-testing.

To satisfy a variety of installation needs, the KF5600 series easily mounts to single-gang and octagonal back boxes. And these models accommodate four-square back boxes, when used with a square to round plaster ring. The reversible mounting bracket permits both flush- and surface-mount back box installations.

The KF5600 series provides clear markings on the exterior of the unit to ensure that the proper detector is being used. Alphanumeric characters identify the activation method, as well as the temperature rating, in Fahrenheit and Celsius degrees. Fixed temperature models are identified FX, while combination fixed/rate-of-rise units are marked FX/ROR.

The KF5600 series also provides a post-activation indicator in the form of a collector. When the detector is activated, the collector drops from the unit, making it easy to identify the unit in alarm.

KFD4120 Duct Smoke Detector

The KFD4120 4-wire photoelectric duct smoke detector features a pivoting housing that fits both square and rectangular footprints and mounts to round or rectangular ductwork. This unit senses smoke in the most challenging conditions, operating in airflow speeds of 100 to 4,000 feet per minute, temperatures of –4°F to 158° F, and a humidity range of 0 to 95 percent (non-condensing). A plug-in sensor head offers improved false alarm immunity and simple installation, testing, and maintenance. An improved cover design isolates the sensor head from the low-flow feature for simple maintenance.

The Kingfisher housing provides ample wiring space, a ¾-inch conduit knockout, and built-in short circuit protection to prevent damage to sensitive components during installation. High contrast terminal designations make wiring easy. With its 2:1 sensor-to-power capability, the power board of the D4120 may be used to monitor a second sensor, D4S, simultaneously (i.e., supply and return side). As many as 50 Kingfisher detectors can be interconnected. When one unit senses smoke, all interconnected detectors will switch their relays; only the detector sensing smoke will go into alarm, thus pinpointing the fire source.

KFRI Interface Panel

The KFRI Interface Panel provides a reliable connection between interior alarm systems and radio alarm master box transmitters. In addition to KCi Panel features described in this bulletin, identical features are provided in the KFRTI-8S. The KFRTI-8S houses both the interface and transmitter circuitry in a common NEMA 3R rainproof enclosure.

KFSL-2000 Series Duct Smoke Detector

The KFSL-2000 Series Smoke Duct Detector is the latest innovation for early detection of smoke and products of combustion present in air moving through HVAC ducts in Commercial, Industrial, and Residential applications. The unit is designed to prevent the recirculation or spread of smoke by air handling systems, fans, and blowers. Complete systems may be shut down in the event of smoke detection.

The KFSL-2000 is designed and built to meet all local code requirements, as well as the NFPA and ICC standards regarding HVAC supply and return duct smoke detectors. Output terminals are provided for a wide range of remote accessories such as horns, strobes, remote status indicators, and test/reset key switches or push buttons.

SENS-RDR Photoelectric Smoke Detector Sensitivity Reader

Kingfisher Smoke Detector Sensitivity Reader SENS –RDR is for use with the Kingfisher 2W and 4W series smoke detectors.

The sensitivity reader displays sensitivity and status indication readings.

The sensitivity reader is designed assure smoke detectors are working within their listed and marked sensitivity ranges. The SENS-RDR reader's LCD screen displays a detectors exact sensitivity by percent-per foot obscuration. Therefore, unlike many sensitivity readers, voltmeters, and multimeters that display only the voltage rating, the step of cross referencing a voltage reading to a sensitivity range is eliminated with the SENS RDR. Beyond displaying the sensitivity reading, the LCD screen indicates the status of the detector in alpha numeric text as GOOD, SERVICE, or REPLACE.

Testing a detector's sensitivity is a simple and quick task. The SENS-RDR connects to hand held devices and threaded extension pole for those detectors installed out of reach, eliminating the need for a ladder. Within 10 seconds, the dual LED and sounder will alert the installer that the reading has been taken. With dual indicators, the installer won't have to rely on a single LED in areas with visibility issues or a single sounder in areas with audibility issues.
